TAB Done Right

I recently took my Methods of Teaching Art student to visit Mary Ann Herron's classroom. Mary Ann teaches at Radcliffe Creek School, a small private school on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. A few years ago, Mary Ann made the switch to the Teaching for Artistic Behavior (TAB) method of art education. Her results have been just amazing!

Mary Ann's TAB approach is deeply rooted in her belief that every child can learn and achieve great things. Most her student population is students with special needs--and these students flourish working in a TAB environment! Mary Ann shared not only her approach to opening/closing/rotating TAB centers but also the organizational, assessment and exhibit strategies that make her TAB classroom a success. I learned so much from this visit and I know my student did as well!
